What Does It Provide?
The primary purpose of an asbestos register is to identify, document, and manage the presence of asbestos in a workplace. By maintaining this register, organisations can take necessary precautions to prevent accidental damage and exposure.
A register has this info: The location of asbestos at work. The type of asbestos (e.g., insulation, roofing, flooring). The state of the asbestos (e.g., intact, damaged, deteriorated). Proposals and recommendations
The Legal Requirements
If you manage or control a workplace building, structure, or plant built before 2004 in Queensland (Australia), you must create and keep an asbestos register at the workplace. The model Code of Practice: How to manage and control asbestos in the workplace provides more detailed information on asbestos registers. You need to update the register every five years to remain compliant.
Maintaining an accurate register is essential for safeguarding the health and well-being of everyone in the workplace.
Types of Asbestos Register
We provide three different types of asbestos registers.
These are:
Non-Destructive Asbestos register
This register is the most basic package option. A licensed asbestos assessor will document and report all areas suspected to have ACMs, with photos in a report signed off by a Licensed Asbestos assessor. No physical sampling/ testing will take place during this report. This is suitable when there are safe access limits. Or when sampling is not allowed or is not possible.
Bulk Identification Asbestos Register.
This report will allow a select number of suspect areas to be physically sampled and then tested by a NATA-approved laboratory to determine the presence of asbestos. This will allow the report to be more detailed and legally eliminate/ prove the presence of asbestos in the premises.
Conclusive Asbestos Register
This report will allow ALL materials on all elevations to be physically sampled, photographed, and tested by a NATA-approved laboratory to determine the presence of asbestos. This will allow the report to have much more details, including the amount of each product, and legally eliminate/ prove the presence of asbestos-containing material on the premises. Our trained professionals can offer options for safe removal and encapsulation after testing the sample, even if sample areas contain a small amount of cosmetic damage due to product removal for sampling on some occasions.
